About Chris

I came to this practice the long way — in big circles.

Chris, arms crossed and smiling, in a cream sweatshirt against a white wall.

I studied philosophy in college while playing football, so the inward adventure started early, even when the outward one was louder. After school the adventures got longer: a bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, then nearly ten years in triathlon, including a full Ironman in Nice, France. Movement meant accomplishment — the next race, the next finish line.

But the other road kept calling me back. At twenty-six I quit my job, joined the Peace Corps, and lived in Guatemala for two and a half years. Fifteen years ago I studied under a Lama. In 2016 I left Big 4 consulting to work for myself — ten years now — always circling between the outer life and the inner one.

A few years ago the practice deepened, and it started with something ordinary: a long morning walk with my dog. Every day, no matter what — snow, cold, rain. Three years of that, and something began transforming from the inside out. Pilates had already found me when my body needed healing rather than another medal; now the question it asked — not what can I accomplish? but how do I want to move through life? — became the whole path. It led to 500 hours of yoga teacher training, and last September, to thirty-five days of study and practice in Nepal.

Now I teach. Half a century in, what I have to offer isn’t a method to perform — it’s a practice to share.

Come practice with me.
